Distribution Research
For the other information I used this website to judge whether it is best for me to enter into a film festival, like whiplash, or if that isn't the best way for me personally to distribute it. This website contains all the necessary points to focus on when wanting to distribute it, For example the right to keep direct sales rights, and to keep the direct digital and dvd sales.
This website provided the idea for crowdfunding the film before actually going through an established distributor. This way was the most compelling since I am a student and don't have extra funds to spend on a major distributor. It also contains guidance when wanting to release it as a VOD (video on demand), whether to DIY it or go through a third party.
Crowdfunding the Film:
I would start off trying to Crowdfund the Film to see if there is any real interest in the film through online sources. This would raise money to distribute it through more high quality mediums. Such platforms like, Kickstarter, and Indiegogo are perfect for my film, since it can reach a lot of people and it is more affordable than going through already established distributers to start off with.

With the funds that this creates I can then chose to launch the film onto YouTube, possibly only a paid version, or I could go with distributors that specialize in indie films, such as, BayView Entertainment, Cinedigm etc. Depending on the budget that I have, I have the possibility that I could go to a major name brand distributer such as Sony Pictures like the indie film "Whiplash" did. However "Whiplash" did enter into Sundance before distributing it through Sony Pictures and I am not planning to enter into a film festival.
